These wintry days with my three girls are hurrying by
Pumpkins waiting
Knits finished, warm and worn
Moonstone skies & rain....oh the rain, the non-stop rain. Everything is sodden, squelchy & oozy. Mosses glowing green. Naked limbs permanently adorned with liquid jewels.
Lengthening days barely perceptible, gathering momentum, not ready to climb out of this cosy, wintry cocoon
Occasionally the sun. Deep violet, grey skies shine with golden light, contrasted by the stark white of passing cockatoos, the glaucous eucalyptus leaves, a quietness before the rain begins to fall again
Horseriding work, fine art work, exhibitions, prizes, exciting, speeches maybe, scary
Falling down the Outlander rabbit hole
Travelling northward, home to the Highlands. Crisp air , birthdays, more rain
Southward bound. Home to house guests
Hushed house. Windy & dark. Rain tapping on the roof. Girls sleeping.
When I can't sleep... stolen glimpses of their sleeping bodies, peaceful faces. Such tenderness, sweetness. Climb back into bed, watch the earth turn & the morning light seep in
....to freeze time for a short while and hold this sweetness in my mouth...lingering, savouring, conquering...when the sourness of hurtful words & actions threaten to drown out, wash over, extinguish all that is good
