Mornings down at the river
We unpack all the Christmas decorations on the first of December & turn up some Bing or Fred. The Nutcracker has always been Zahra's favourite & now it's Niamh's too.

A few weeks back Zahra found an egg on a leaf. She put it in her bug watcher & waited. One Sunday morning the warm sun came up & POP, out of the egg came a tiny & very hungry caterpillar. It started to look for some food. On Monday it ate through one apple, but it was still hungry. On Tuesday it ate through two pears, bit it was still hungry, on Wednesday....well, you know how the story goes. For weeks my girl fed & fed & fed that hungry caterpillar until it wasn't a little caterpillar anymore it was a big, fat caterpillar...& then it didn't build a cocoon or turn into a beautiful butterfly, it burrowed & turned into a vine hawk moth. She sat and watched that moth dry itself for hours. It's days like these I love that we homeschool.
