whenever i get on the phone with my dad we always chat about the weather. has it been raining, how dry or humid it is, who's had the highest temperatures (no competition there, we win hands down dad). so when i sit down to say hello in this little space my mind immediately goes to the weather. what kind of day you have wherever you are. is it snowing? maybe spring is poking her head out and about. here, the light is slowly changing, softening, becoming more golden. everyone including the chooks are relieved the heat has moved on. there is a chill some evenings and most mornings, but no leaves are turning just yet. a few weeks back we had snow in the mountains and that icy air turned my mind to knitting. as a novice knitter i might be getting ahead of myself this season with the six projects i have on the go and the others i have queued. a bit of this and that. cardigans for the girls, a beanie with ties for my littlest who i struggle to keep hats on, a cardi for mama in my favourite colour right now, mustard, and a knit that has been passed on by my sister in law. all in pieces and in purple, zahra's favourite colour. all it needs are some cuffs and blocking. it was left too long in her knitting basket and then her girls grew. which mine seem to be doing a lot of these days. sleeping, eating, growing. it's next weekend that our baby girl turns one. how is it that one whole turn about the sun flies by so quickly? so naturally to balance out the knitting scene there's been some birthday sewing going on too. we've been walking in the bush in the mornings then sewing or knitting in the afternoons. a bit of this and that here and there.
