There's a corner in our dining room that I've been politely ignoring for the past seven months. A corner heaped with brown paper bags holding treasures from last Summer's garden. There were grand plans for our seed saving efforts including pretty seed packets each with their own lino cut stamp logo and an early start on this Summer's herbs and vegies. Each time I walked past that pile of bags I would picture a bigger and more productive garden than last season, flourishing with more types of vegies, the offspring of what we had grown last year. Well, things don't always turn out as planned and the pile got pushed a little further aside and deeper into that corner when Winter and a growing babe began filling our days. Eventually I could no longer ignore that paper bag pile any longer and a few comments from those around me meant it was time to start sowing Summer. So we emptied that corner of its precious contents, cleaned and sorted until we had our Summer vegies all packed away.
And while the plans for this Summer's garden are late off the mark and well pared back it feels good to finally get our hands dirty and have a few Summer seeds tucked away in their earthen beds.
Happy Gardening
