Late last week we found ourselves doing some last minute crafting for our homeschool spring fair. It's been a while since the glue and felt, scissors and tape, paints and twine, not to mention the Janome made an appearance. A bit of wet felting in the spring sunshine, some help from an eager assistant with scissors, a quick turn on the machine... and we had ourselves a bowl of Solstice heart decorations, while some clay, biscuit cutters and ribbons filled an old collar box full of gift tags.
Zahra has had plans in the pipeline for her peg dolls for the past six months, not one to miss an entrepeneurial opportunity this girl of mine, making felt and squirreling it away in her wool basket just for this occasion. They all had names, her peg girls, and were created with love and a fair amount of craft glue. I must say I was full of mama pride at her basket of little ladies, so full I had to buy the one with the wind blown, sunset hair.
All were sold except a few clay decorations which will come in handy for Christmas.
It felt satisfying surveying the small amount of 'busyness' that was left on our dining table. I never thought I'd ever feel content cleaning up but to have my hands busy again after such a long break is very welcome.
