I do so love Autumn with its golden light, earthy colours and crisp evenings. Just enough of a temperature drop to rummage for those first woollens and throw an extra layer on the bed. It really is my favourite season bringing with it warming, hearty meals, a gratefulness for the gradually diminishing sunshine and a calming, reflective energy. We used up every last ounce of that delicious, afternoon sunshine down at the riverside and with 3 weeks of glorious Autumn weather behind us the potential for a change was looming, and all too quickly this:
became this:
But not to worry, because me being the Cancerian Mama that I am, the potential of what this means gets the creative and nesting juices flowing. I mean who doesn't like being all cosied up in the warmth of home, sipping hot chocolate, playing boardgames and dreaming of the next project to hit the sewing machine? Well...ahem... that's not exactly how the story goes (on this occassion anyway, I reall, truly am a homebody, honest). Rather it goes something like this: dash out in the pouring rain with 2 little ones, William and the dog, head to the uniform shop to get my baby girl fitted for her winter uniform, stumble across a rather, grumpy uniform store lady who's not impressed with Zahra's need to move after being cooped up in the house all day, drop into the toy store following a round of pleads from the little ones and a "we're only looking" from me, then out of the toy store by myself for a quick 5 minute look at the op-shop. The potential of 5 minutes saw these little beauties safely home with me.
That last little treasure truly is a 'bluebird of happiness' don't you think? These finds certainly brought some sunshine to my day and the potential they hold, well, with a few more days cosied up inside who knows what they could become. Happy Autumn to you wherever you may be.
